Birdvox

Birdvox is an exciting electro-folk band born from a mutual love of birds, harmonies and kitchen discos. They embrace energetic, shapeshifting synthesis and vocal interplay with velvet harmonies, considered lyrical stylings and lively bespoke beats.

The quartet comprises four established artist-producers: Sarah Hayes (vocals, flute, synths, programming), Charlotte Printer (vocals, bass), Jenny Sturgeon (vocals, guitar, synths, sampling) and Inge Thomson (vocals, accordion, electronica, beats).

An evolution of acclaimed cross-arts project Northern Flyway (2018-2021), whose album received several 5* reviews and featured in Songlines’ Best Avian-Inspired Albums Top 10, Birdvox works across traditional folk, indie, electronica and pop, singing in Scots, Shetland dialect, old Norn and English.

After performing at Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival and Edinburgh Tradfest, they’ve recorded their debut album with producer Peter Brewis (Field Music). The eagerly-anticipated album explores nature, friendship, mental health and social issues with unflinching, uplifting energy. It will be released in May 2026.
