Chloe Matharu
Bio
Chloe Matharu is a multi-award-winning Scottish Indian singer-songwriter and harpist from Scotland’s West Coast. Drawing on her time as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy, her songs are inspired by the natural world as experienced at sea. Performing solo with harp in Scots and English, her work has been described as a compelling new tradition of maritime folk music, marked by thoughtful songwriting and superb harp playing.
An internationally touring artist, Chloe has performed at Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, and Melbourne Celtic Festival. She has won Celtic Music Radio’s Album of the Year twice for Small Voyages (2022) and Sailors and Rolling Stones (2024), plus a Danny Award at Celtic Connections and a Live Music Award at Greenock Telegraph Community Awards.
She has received nominations for Wales Folk Awards, Scots Singer of the Year, and three nominations for Canada’s Goderich Emerging Artist Showcase. Press highlights include BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Loose Ends, and ABC Melbourne.
Chloe lives on her family run Alpaca and Goat Trekking centre.
