Kim Carnie

Celebrated for her “velvet-voiced authority” (The Scotsman), Kim Carnie blends traditional Gaelic roots with cinematic, contemporary soundscapes. One of Scotland’s most compelling musical voices, she performs with her own band, as lead singer of multi-award-winning Mànran, and as a founding member of experimental folk ensemble Staran. Her vocals feature in major film and television soundtracks, including Netflix’s Outlaw King and Black Mirror.

Renowned for cultural collaboration, Kim has worked with celebrated artists including Malian griot supergroup Trio Da Kali, GRAMMY-nominated kora players Seckou Keita and Kadialy Kouyate, Basque trio Kalakan, and toured with Jerry Douglas’s Transatlantic Sessions. Named Gaelic Singer of the Year in 2021, she’s also a sought-after composer, with commissions from Edinburgh Storytelling Centre, Blas Festival, and gaming companies.

Following her critically acclaimed debut solo album And So We Gather, produced by Donald Shaw, Kim has returned in autumn 2025 with A’ Chailleach – a bold new chapter in her artistic evolution.
