Kim Edgar

Kim Edgar is an Edinburgh-based indie folk singer-songwriter and pianist. She performs solo and as a member of popular Celtic band Cara, with notable appearances including Cambridge Folk Festival, Later With Jools Holland (as part of The Burns Unit), and a performance for HRH The Queen at the opening of the Scottish Parliament’s fourth session.

Kim’s songwriting has gained widespread recognition, with Paolo Nutini performing her song “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” (co-written with Karine Polwart) on BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay Show. As co-leader of The BIG Project Youth Choir alongside Val Munro and Lissa McIntyre, she directed performances of “O Flower Of Scotland” at the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony and featured live on BBC Children in Need with Gareth Malone.

With a background in classical piano and English Literature focusing on horror, fairy tales and feminism, Kim weaves these influences into songs that articulate joy, hope and social awareness.
