VALTOS

Valtos are Skye natives Daniel Docherty and Martyn MacDonald, and they have taken the Trad and Electronic music worlds by storm. Since their debut shows in December 2021, they have entertained audiences at festivals and sold-out venues nationwide, creating what Folk Radio UK describes as “like nothing you’ve heard before.”

Blending influences from electronic and folk music—inspired by Martyn Bennett, Peatbog Faeries, Odesza and Bicep—Valtos creates a unique, genre-defying sound. Their self-titled debut album (June 2022) features collaborations with Donnie Munro (Runrig), Gary Innes (Mànran) and Allan MacDonald (Niteworks), achieving over 100,000 streams in its first weeks.

Throughout 2023-2024, their ambitious “Valtos and Friends” project released 12 singles collaborating with Elephant Sessions, Julie Fowlis, Gnoss and more, culminating in a sold-out 1300-capacity show at SWG3 and second album Valtos & Friends (2025).

Recognition includes BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year finals, Up and Coming Artist of the Year 2022, and Best Live Act nomination 2023 at The Scots Trad Awards.
